Born on this date in 1867 was Finley Peter Dunne who was quoted as saying "Most vegetarians look so much like the food they eat that they can be classified as cannibals." He was a writer from Ireland and died in 1936


On this day in 1899 the song "My Wild Irish Rose" by George J. Gaskin was number one in this country. [The number one song today is "I kissed a Girl". Sorry I've never heard it]


Weather on this date last year 2007 Buenos Aires, Argentina had it's first snow fall in over 89 years [Here in my corner of the world, the heat has finally broken. Last night's heavy rain have washed everything clean, the sun shining bright, we have a light breezy. All in all it feels rather like an early Autumn day.]

Also today in 1793 Vermont State finished revisions to its constitution. It became the first state out law slavery. [today a man was being held by the U.S. Secret Service in Burlington for trying to pass counterfeit money, and 1000+ people were in Randolph to morn the passing of 12 year old Brooke Bennett who was killed by her Uncle 2 weeks ago]
